Kuga is Europe’s bestselling PHEV
It’s official: Our Kuga Plug-in Hybrid was Europe’s bestselling plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) in 2023. 1,2
It’s the third year in a row 1 that our family-sized SUV – which can drive with zero-tailpipe emissions in EV Now mode 3 – has topped the PHEV sales charts.
Last year, customers bought 25 per cent more Kuga Plug-in Hybrids than the next bestselling PHEV. 1
Our
new Kuga Plug-in Hybrid was unveiled at the very start of this year, and
there’s even more to love.
The new model accelerates faster and can now tow up to 2,100 kg – better than any other vehicle in its class. 4 It makes journeys more comfortable with technology that can slow automatically for bends, roundabouts and exit ramps on sat-nav routes, 5 and offers a 360-degree camera system 5,6 that can display a bird’s-eye view of the SUV on the 13.2-inch centre screen when parking.
It’s better connected too. The SYNC 4 infotainment system 7 integrates smartphones with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 8 offers 5G connectivity 9 and even has Alexa Built-in 10 as standard.
Of course, owners can still charge the battery by plugging into a charge station or power point. The battery power can provide up to 69 km of pure electric driving with EV Now mode activated, 3 or help a tank of petrol last longer on lengthy road trips.
Europe’s bestselling PHEV 1,2 is also built in Europe,
at our assembly facility in
Valencia, Spain. New Kuga goes on sale this month.

CO2 emission and fuel efficiency ranges may vary according to vehicle variants offered by individual markets. The declared WLTP fuel/energy consumptions, CO2-emissions and electric range are determined according to the technical requirements and specifications of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EU) 2017/1151 as last amended. The applied standard test procedures enable comparison between different vehicle types and different manufacturers.
